Crystal Pools is according to me the best place in Cape Town to be at during the summer. The cost is about R15 for the permit but it sure is worth it. You can get a permit at the Sunny hotel place just before the bridge. If the rangers catch you without your permit they will go ape on you.
Crystal Pools is by far not a easy destination, well maybe if you are fit but for the average person the walk might be on the hard side. Around 5km from the road you will receive the reward though, 4 massive pools of ice cold water with giant cliffs surrounding the place.
At the pools it feels like you’ve just abandoned civilization and if there was a new home you’d probably call it Crystal Pools.
